GARDEN COMPETITION

Why not enter our garden competition this year?

This is a light hearted and fun competition - you don't have to be an expert gardener or have manicured lawns and fabulous borders!

There are several categories which cover all entries from the smallest of patios to the largest of vegetable gardens.

Why not support us by entering this year and help us to encourage everyone to keep Howdenshire in bloom!

Entry is free and open to everyone in the Howdenshire area. Entry forms, which give further details, are available from All Occasions, Annie's Fruit Bowl, California Gardens, Howden Library, Parkins Butchers and the Shire Hall Shop

(closing date for entries - 30 June)

LATEST PUBLICATION - THE BURNEY STREAMLINE CAR by Bernard J. Nield

The prototype of this revolutionary car was designed in the late 1920s by Sir Charles Dennistoun Burney. he was Managing Director of the Airship Guarantee Company constructing the R100 Airship at Spaldington near Howden. Only a few cars were produced at the Cordwallis works, Maidenhead, none of which are thought to survive. The design was later developed inder licence by the Crossley Motor Company as the Crossley Streamline. Of these, just one complete car is known to exist, owned by Lord Montagu and kept at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.

To learn more about the car, why not buy the book? Now available price £7 inc U.K. postage and packing. Please use our contact us facility for orders
